There are simple, low cost solutions to many occupational and environmental noise problems. An expert assessment of the options, however, may be time-consuming and can cost more than the solution itself. New technology coupled with the largest database of noise control solutions available allows us to diagnose and / or solve many noise control problems remotely via email - and at a fraction of the cost of conventional programmes. We can even provide you with a suitable recorder to acquire the data.

Remote Noise Control Case Study - Commercial Laundry Extract Fan
The noise from this extract fan was the cause of complaints from nearby residents. The conventional approach involves: site visit to carry out noise measurements and analysis; review of fan installation; specification of silencers and enclosure; second site visit following installation to assess performance; reporting. Remote control: we provided instructions for recording the fan sound and for the required fan dimensions. We analysed the recordings and provided detailed drawings for the fan modification. A single site visit was made to check installation and measure the performance - 20-30dB reduction in tonal content (see tonal analysis plot), eliminating the problem. The remote process itself saved c£1k, whilst the source control modification (in place of enclosure/silencer) saved a further £3k (and without the increased running costs). Moreover, whole process was completed within a few days rather than a few weeks. Download the technical note> [pdf 320k]
